Kids Across America Shortens Session due to H1N1

Today, Kids Across America closed it's three camps early due to a number of campers that had the symptoms associated with H1N1. Some of their campers had tested positive for the influenza A strain named H1N1.

All the KAA camps will reopen, as scheduled on Monday, July 20th. This will give them time to thoroughly sanitize their facility. They needed to close all three facilities because, Kids Across America campers typically arrive on church buses that carry campers for all three of their camps. This created a scenario in which they would need to release all the camps so that they could travel back the way they came.

KAA is working closely with the health department and are following very similar protocols to what Kanakuk Kamps does.

Kids Across America is a donor supported camping experience for urban youth. It's camps are located in the Golden, Missouri area on Table Rock Lake.

Please pray for these kiddos and their families. Even when they were sick, they were so precious and so cooperative. The doctor who was at camp was amazing and the nursing staff worked tirelessly to care for the kids, kampers, and staff as quick as they could. In the midst of all the business trying to care for them, you could see God's hand at work and the situation provided for some wonderful moments of witnessing from counselors who were also sick to the kiddos who were isolated. God is till in control. Pray for their safety and wellness and that god will continue the work he started in their lives at an amazing place called KAA.

I arrived at KAA1 to get my daughter from quarantine, not knowing what I would find. The nurses greeted me with a hug and assured me that my child was being taken care of. The staff was so incredibly organized and diliegent in the midst of all the craziness. They were obviously short-staffed, but still every sick child was being cared for. I was amazed at the proficiency of the whole process. My daughter, a counselor, cried when she left without saying goodbye to her campers and fellow counselors, but we knew it was best to get out so they could take care of others. Cudos to KAA for their ability to maintain order in such chaos. God definitely had his hand in all of this. I will continue to pray for KAA and all the staff who have worked tirelessly to continue the Lord's work here. Love to all of you.
